Kimberly Chavalas Cripe has served as the President and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) since 1997. In her role, Kim leads one of the top pediatric healthcare systems nationally recognized for safe, high-quality care. Prior to joining CHOC, she was with Humana Inc. (now HCA and Humana), where she held a series of progressively responsible hospital, regional and corporate positions.
Kim conducted her undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California and the University of South Florida, and received her master’s degree in public administration, health services management, from Golden Gate University. She serves as the chair of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Board of Trustees and is active in several other children’s advocacy organizations.

As the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center since 2018, Patrick Frias, MD, leads one of the premier pediatric health care systems in the nation, ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of America’s ten best pediatric hospitals for 2024-2025. Dr. Frias started his career as a pediatric cardiologist, while serving on the pediatric faculty at the Emory University School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Frias holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Creighton University and completed medical school at the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center, and his pediatric cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
